Daring Explorers of Old Hedge Days
In our home we are huge fans of Jill Barklem's Brambly Hedge series. Most of us are familiar with her Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter books, but did you know that she wrote numerious others?
"The High Hills" was a book about the Voles in the High Hills who had been preparing for winter when they discovered that their warm winter quilts had been eaten away by the moths. Mrs Apple hears of their plight and mounts a relief operation. The weavers hurriedly prepare new blankets and Mr Apple and a small party of mice prepare to climb up to the Voles to deliver them.
In order to prepare, Mr Apple settles down to read his copy of the book 'Daring Explorers of Old Hedge Days', an account of how Sir Hogweed Horehound conquered the highest peak of the High Hills in his quest to discover gold.
This colourway is captures all the elements of adventure with rich golds which harken back to Sir Hogweed horehound's mission into the purple-headed mountains.
