Wilfreds Birthday Picnic

Inspiration: 

This colourway of hand-dyed speckled yarn is the third in the Brambly Hedge series.

It's spring and young Wilfred mouse has woken full of excitement, it's his birthday! The folk of Brambly Hedge gather together to enjoy a wonderful celebratory picnic under the primroses and bluebells with Wilfred and his family. The springtime sun is shining and the sky is clear and blue.

The mice have prepared a wonderful surprise for Wilfred; inside the picnic hamper, packed all around with presents, was an enormous cake and on the top written in pink icing was Happy Birthday Wilfred. Wilfred plays a tune on his new whistle, 'Hickory, Dickory, Dandelion Clock'. What a delightful way to spend your birthday. Perhaps I will do the same this year.

~ Hand Dyed Sock Yarn, 100g, 4-ply

~ 75% Superwash Merino

~ 25% Nylon

~ 425m per 100g

~ Knitting Needle size - 2mm - 3mm/ US 0-2

My yarn bases come from a local supplier that prides itself in sourcing its fibre from reliable suppliers with best practices with regard to animal husbandry and the environment, something that is very important to me.

I use acid dyes unless otherwise stated.

Disclaimer: I wash all my yarn with wool wash which may aggravate skins that are sensitive to such products.

Darker colours may run, bleed or transfer and although I take every precaution to ensure colour fastness I cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by colour transfer or bleeding in a wash.
